MINI has revealed the Countryman Untamed Edition, a more rugged version of the SUV that combines off-road-focused suspension and tyre upgrades with distinctive exterior and interior details.

Production is scheduled to begin at BMW Group Plant Leipzig in Germany in November 2026, with the market launch planned for early 2027, according to MINI's official announcement.

The exact equipment will depend on the country and powertrain. Autocar India reports that MINI has not yet confirmed whether the Untamed Edition will be launched in India.

15mm suspension lift comes to select versions

The most significant mechanical change is a 15mm suspension lift. MINI says the modification can increase ground clearance by up to 19mm, depending on the market and vehicle version, while also improving the Countryman's approach and breakover angles.

The raised suspension will not be standard worldwide. MINI says all Untamed Edition variants offered in the United States and Canada will receive the lift, while in Europe it will be available on the fully electric versions.

The edition also receives exclusive 19-inch Untamed Edition Spoke alloy wheels with specially developed Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tyres. The tyres are standard in North America, optional in Europe and available through aftersales channels in certain other markets.

MINI has recalibrated the ABS, Dynamic Stability Control and steering systems to work with the revised suspension and all-terrain tyres.

ALL4 all-wheel drive is available on compatible versions

The Untamed Edition can be combined with MINI's ALL4 all-wheel-drive system where the underlying Countryman powertrain offers it. Availability will therefore vary between markets and model versions.

An optional tow bar allows towing capacity of up to 2,000kg depending on market specification. MINI also quotes a roof-load capacity of up to 75kg while driving and up to 300kg when the vehicle is stationary.

MINI has developed a roof tent with AUTOHOME and is also offering outdoor equipment created with HELINOX, including folding chairs and camping tables.

Untamed Edition gets distinctive exterior details

The Countryman Untamed receives a redesigned grille with vertically arranged angular inserts. Dark Steel detailing appears on the grille surround, MINI logos, Countryman lettering, underbody protection and several other exterior elements.

Protective films are fitted around areas including the wheel arches, side sills and Power Dome. MINI says these surfaces are designed to reinforce the rugged appearance while helping protect exposed areas from stone chips.

Five exterior colours have been announced: Hideaway Grey, Nomad Blue, Frozen Nomad Blue, Nanuq White and Midnight Black. Buyers can choose a Glazed White or Jet Black roof.

MINI says Frozen Nomad Blue is its first matt exterior paint offered in series production. An Untamed emblem featuring a mountain motif is positioned on the C-pillar.

Interior changes focus on durability and outdoor use

The cabin gets Vescin Nightshade Blue sports seats with perforated upholstery and knitted sections around the shoulders and headrests. Knitted Millennial Melange material in dark grey and blue is also used on the dashboard and door panels.

The centre-console storage area has been redesigned with elastic retaining straps, while rubber floor mats and a matching luggage-compartment mat are included.

Petrol, diesel and electric versions are planned

Depending on the market, MINI says the Untamed Edition will be offered with the Countryman C, Countryman D, Countryman S ALL4, Countryman E and Countryman SE ALL4.

The line-up therefore includes combustion-engine and electric powertrains, along with front-wheel-drive and ALL4 configurations depending on the version sold in each country.

For the electric models, MINI lists preliminary WLTP driving ranges of 454 to 500km for the Countryman E and 391 to 467km for the Countryman SE ALL4. The company notes that technical figures and equipment remain market-dependent.

India launch remains unconfirmed

MINI has confirmed the early-2027 international rollout but has not announced an Indian launch date, price or local powertrain line-up for the Countryman Untamed Edition.

The key difference from a conventional appearance package is the functional hardware. In markets where the full specification is offered, the Untamed Edition combines its visual changes with raised suspension, all-terrain tyres and recalibrated control systems intended to improve the Countryman's ability away from paved roads.
